Two hurt in South Portland motorcycle crash

SOUTH PORTLAND (WGME) -- A motorcycle crash in South Portland diverted traffic and sent two people to the hospital Friday morning.

South Portland Police Lt. Frank Clark says a 20-year-old man driving the motorcycle crashed on Broadway near Cash Corner and Lincoln Street around 5:30 a.m.. He and his 17-year-old female passenger were taken to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police say the driver has injuries to his leg, and the passenger suffered a head injury.

The section of Broadway was closed for part of the morning commute as crews reconstructed the scene. The road reopened around 8 a.m. Friday.

Police say no other vehicles were involved. They're looking into what caused the crash.
