Saving You Money: Saving on utility bills in summer

PORTLAND (WGME) --  Whether it's cranking up your air conditioner or turning on the fans, your utility bill in the Summer can go as high as the temperature outside.

But just doing some easy improvements around the house can save you money and make you a lot more comfortable when the weather gets toasty.

Efficiency Maine says you can save lots of money by closing you windows during the day and opening them at night and pulling the curtains and drapes during when the sun is out.

They also say to cut down on use of your oven and turn the lights off.

A great way to save is using a clothes line.  By not using your dryer, it can save on electricity and not heat the house up.

Proper insulation can make a big difference as well.
