Portland's buffer zone up for repeal
PORTLAND (WGME) -- That buffer zone in Portland keeping protesters 39 feet away from Planned Parenthood could disappear.
The Portland City Council approved the buffer zone after patients complained pro-life demonstrators were going too far, harassing them and getting in their faces. But the U.S. Supreme court recently ruled a similar buffer zone in Massachusetts violates free-speech rights.
On Monday, the Portland City Council will look into repealing the buffer zone on Congress Street.
