Heavy rain continues to threaten roads
RUMFORD (WGME) -- The town of Rumford continued to clean up damaged roads Friday after two days of heavy rain came through the area. Crews were out all day Thursday cleaning up and closing portions of unsafe roads and continued to Friday.
In total at least half a dozen roads were washed out and damaged by the storms. Officials say it could be weeks or even months until some of the roads are open again.
CBS 13 spoke to DOT crews arriving back on scene Friday. They say they'll be working on pumping water out of the roads throughout the day. They say they're waiting on the town of Rumford to insulate the sewer lines until they can bury them again.
There is still limited access to many roads throughout Rumford, with more rain expected through Friday evening flash flooding remains a risk.
