Poor weather dampens holiday business
OLD ORCHARD BEACH (WGME) -- The weather is also putting a damper on holiday businesses.
Streets in Old Orchard Beach were less crowded than usual for the Fourth of July, which traditionally kicks off Maine's busy tourism season.
Some did get out this afternoon, to squeeze in some pier fries and ice cream before the rain arrived.
Local business owners say sales would be much better if the sun was out.
Typically, many businesses in Old Orchard Beach make 80% to 85% of their business during the summer months.
