National Guard to get new headquarters in Augusta
AUGUSTA (WGME) -- The Maine National Guard will build a new headquarters in Augusta.
The 32 million dollar building proposal was approved by the planning board and construction on the headquarters could start next summer.
The new building will be next to the Maine veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In the proposal, the entrance of the cemetery is moved about 75 feet so the cemetery and headquarters could share a new stop light.
It will house administration offices for the army and air guard.
