Rte 114 back open after Gorham crash

GORHAM (WGME) -- A heavily traveled road in Gorham opened back up to traffic overnight.  The southbound side of Route 114 near the rotary at Route 112 was closed for several hours Wednesday after a tanker truck carrying home heating fuel rolled over.

Police say about 8,900 gallons - almost all of the fuel the truck was hauling - spilled during the crash.

Crews worked for seven hours with the roads closed to clean up the mess and recovered a good amount of the fuel. Hazmat crews are expected to be on scene for the next several days to make sure the area is safe.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police say the driver somehow lost control.
