Environmental law that would make getting rid of old paint easier
STATE WIDE (WGME) -- In Maine, getting rid of old paint could soon become easier.
At today's Eco Maine annual meeting, the commissioner of the Maine DEP outlined the state's new paint recycling law.
The law encourages proper disposal that will make it easier for manufacturers to reuse leftover paint, which is now considered hazardous waste.
Commissioner Aho says the department is right now working out the details as well as other ways to update solid waste regulations.
Commissioner Aho also says her department will also be looking for opportunities to bring new and more modern waste conversion facilities to Maine.
