Fundraising air show in Portsmouth is cancelled
PORTSMOUTH, NH (WGME) -- Sequester cuts are to blame for the cancellation of a big aviation event in Portsmouth.
We're told the air-fest is one of hundreds across the country facing the same problem.
It's an event that would have been filled with military aircrafts and raised $75,000 for the Wounded Warriors Project, but because of sequester cuts it's not going to happen.
In years past the Thunderbirsds have come to do air shows in Brunswick.
This year's event would have offered a close up look at several planes; a 5-k race and a plane pull competition.
The event is a huge fundraiser for the Wounded Warriors Project.
That money helps soldiers who suffer traumatic brain injuries with emergency financial assistance.
The group hopes to host the event next year. They'll know this fall if that will happen.
