Refugee choir heads to Washington DC

PORTLAND (WGME) -- A Portland refugee singing group is headed to Washington DC to sing at the Kennedy Center.

The Pihcintu Chorus is a group of 34 refugees aging from 10 to 24.

They were invited to perform in the nations capital in honor of World Refugee Day.

Organizers say this is a good educational opportunity for the refugees.

The group includes people from 17 different countries and they perform songs written by organizers and the refugees.
