1 person seriously injured in Augusta car crash

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) -- One person has been seriously injured after a car crashed into the rear of a dump truck on Interstate 95 in Augusta.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said Thursday that the accident happened at mile 113 on the interstate, north of the third Augusta exit.

The breakdown lane is now open, but heavy traffic in the northbound lanes is expected to continue through the afternoon.

McCausland says a helicopter has taken the injured person to a one of the hospital in Lewiston or Bangor.
