Maine Red Cross volunteer heads south to help
PORTLAND (WGME) -- The American Red Cross here in Maine is sending a volunteer down to Mississippi to help with the tornado damage from earlier this week.
At least 35 people have died in several states after three days of severe storms. Hundreds of homes and buildings are either damaged or destroyed.
Kimberly Cormier left Wednesday morning from the Jetport. She spoke with CBS 13's Jennifer Long right before her plane left.
Cormier said she expects most of the places she will be visiting to be destroyed, with people who have little to nothing left. The main goals are to provide clothing, food and shelter.
She will also be training other volunteers on a new data entry system, which keeps track of how many people the Red Cross is helping and what supplies they need.
