Pittsfield plant to shut down, hundreds of jobs cut
PITTSFIELD (WGME) -- 300 workers are facing job cuts and a central Maine town is about to lose its second largest employer.
The United Technologies Corporation Fire and Security Plant is shutting down its Pittsfield plant and 300 people will soon be out of work.
The company says they have other facilities in North Carolina, Mexico and China.
The company says it will offer about 100 jobs to those willing to relocate to North Carolina.
The plant will close in March of next year.
