Child injured in dog attack
FRYEBURG, Maine (AP) -- Police say a 5-year-old boy has been hospitalized after getting attacked by a family member's dog.
Authorities say the boy from Brownfield was visiting relatives in Fryeburg on Tuesday morning when he was bitten.
Fryeburg's animal control officer says the boy told family and rescue workers that he was petting the dog's neck when it bit him on the side of the face.
He was taken to Memorial Hospital in North Conway, N.H., and later moved to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
No names were released.
The 7-year-old dog was euthanized. It was tested for rabies, but tests came back negative.
Family member say the dog had never previously shown signs of aggression.
