Meeting over marijuana and Portland's youth
PORTLAND (WGME) -- Marijuana advocates and opponents met with the public Wednesday night to talk about the effects of pot on the youth in the city.
A panel including Portland's police chief, a lawmaker and a member of the ACLU answered questions about potential risks on young people now that the city has an ordinance legalizing small amounts of marijuana for recreational use.
Organizers say communication is the key in the effort to keep marijuana away from kids, regardless of the ordinance.
Marijuana is still illegal in Portland under federal and state law - laws Chief Michael Sauschuck says he'll enforce.
