Augusta Fire Department honors local hero

AUGUSTA (WGME) -- As firefighters throughout New England and the country mourn the fallen, the Augusta Fire Department is honoring one of their own who died in the line of duty

The department will name its newest truck in honor of firefighter Daryl Parker Wells. He was killed during a training exercise in 1987. The new truck isn't in service yet, but when it goes out, Battalion Chief John Bennett says Wells will be on their minds.

Augusta's fire station on Bangor Street is also named in Wells' honor
