Sun, warmer weather make for great day outside

CAPE ELIZABETH (WGME) -- It's a sight we haven't seen lately.

"I don't think we've had a day like this since December," said Sue Ellen Thompson of South Portland.

"Easily," said Polly Pierce of Cumberland, agreeing with her friend. "This is a lot warmer than it has been."

The sun finally emerged. And, with it, so did warmer temperatures.

"Oh, it's absolutely a wonderful welcome relief," said Shannon Houlette of Cape Elizabeth. "To enjoy a day like this where it's sunny and fairly warm, it's definitely a welcome change."

The warm temperatures brought out dozens of people to Fort Williams to sled down the hill and to walk around the Portland Head Light.

"It's pretty nice," said Samika Sherry, who spent the day sledding. "There's not a layer of ice on the snow anymore. So, the snow is nice and sticky."

People also spent the day at Crescent Beach skiing and snowshoeing.

"It's just lovely," said Maryellen Kennedy of Cape Elizabeth. "It won't feel cold at all."

Most know that the spring-like temperatures won't stick around. So, they're enjoying them while they can.

"I'm done with winter," said Deb Staples of Falmouth. "I'm over it. I'm so over it."

Only four more weeks until spring.
