Road conditions improving as storm moves away

KENNEBUNK (WGME) -- With Wednesday's winter storm moving out, road conditions across the state are improving as plow drivers have had time to clear away the snow that came down.

State Police reported no major accidents Wednesday night on the Maine Turnpike. But speeds are still reduced to 45 miles per hour as a precaution.

Crews were able to catch up Wednesday night, and get extra snow off the highway and local roads.

During the height of the storm an inch or two per hour was coming down so crews had a hard time keeping up. Drivers also tell us travel was flat out nasty earlier today and into the early part of the evening.
