Portland issues yellow zone parking ban
PORTLAND (WGME) -- The city of Portland has issued a yellow parking ban that goes into effect Thursday night.
It wraps up at 6 Friday morning and affects Commercial Street, Cumberland Avenue, Franklin Street and State Street.
Wednesday night's parking ban was only the second storm to test out the city's new parking options during snow parking bans.
One of the areas where people can now park is at the Western Promenade, which had every space taken in the overnight hours.
Some people, just outside of the parking area, had to also dig themselves out of the snow only to find a parking ticket on their windshields for parking in the wrong area.
The city does allow drivers to park in designated areas in the west end and along Marginal Way.
