State police deal with record number of meth labs

STATEWIDE (WGME) -- In the past, meth has only been a problem in other parts of the country and in rural areas, but it's been making its way to Maine.

Cooks are finding easier ways to make the drug and closer to more urban parts of the state.

Drug agents and doctors are bracing for the problem to get even worse.

The problem is these are very dangerous, says Dr. Mark Publicker of Mercy Recovery Center. They are highly explosive, not properly done, they will explode as a fireball.
