Crews battle difficult house fire in Windham
WINDHAM (WGME) -- Crews are called back to the scene of a stubborn house fire in Windham after flames rekindle Wednesday morning.
The fire first started at a home on Finley Road late Tuesday night at around 11:30.
Officials tell us the fire started around a wood stove in the home late Tuesday night. By 2:30 Wednesday morning, fire crews had put out the flames, but by 4:30 they got a call to come back.
Trucks had to park along Pope Road because Finley Road is a narrow dead end road. Crews redirected traffic as a section of Pope Road was closed for more than three hours.
Trucks from Windham, Gorham, Raymond and Gray came back to the scene for a second time, many fire fighters working more than seven hours between the two calls.
The Windham Deputy Fire Chief tells us fires don't usually rekindle after they leave the scene.
Thankfully everyone made it out of this home ok and no injuries have been reported.
Windham public works had to sand Pope and Finley roads because all that water froze, making for some slick conditions.
Both roads were back open Wednesday night.
