Outer Congress St. makeover planned
PORTLAND (WGME) -- Parts of outer Congress Street cold soon look different. The city has secured funding to build more traffic lights and paths for bikes and pedestrians from Stevens Avenue to Johnson Road. City leaders call the changes minor, but say they will have a big impact.
The city held a public meeting on the plan Tuesday at the Italian Heritage Center to present ideas and get input.
A second public meeting is planned for March. Construction isn't expected to start until later this year.
