Jana Barnello anchors Good Day Maine on CBS 13 from 4:30 to 7 a.m. and from 7-8 a.m. on FOX 23.
She joined CBS 13 in July 2012 as an anchor and reporter. Before moving to Maine, Jana worked as a reporter at WTVC-TV News Channel 9 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and WFXL FOX 31 in Albany, Georgia.
During her time at CBS 13, Jana developed a feature series called “Dirigo Stories” which airs every Wednesday on CBS 13 News at 6 and FOX 23 News at 10. She focuses on telling extraordinary stories that capture the heart of Maine. Her work on “Dirigo Stories” has earned her a 2016 and 2017 Edward R. Murrow Award for writing, two New England Emmy nominations, and multiple Maine Association of Broadcasting Awards.
Jana also helped launch a revamped "Friday Night Lights" and "Friday Night Courtside" with Dave Eid during her time as Weekend Anchor.
Jana grew up in Solvay, New York, a small suburb of Syracuse. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. During college, she also worked as a reporter at NewsRadio 570 in Syracuse, New York, and as an associate producer at WTKR in Norfolk, Virginia.
When she's not at work, Jana loves to explore the greater Portland area, especially all the wonderful restaurants Maine has to offer. She is an avid Syracuse Orange fan, and has a pet cat named, Bear. She loves to travel, read, and is constantly looking for the next great show to “binge.”
