On Wednesday, the library and board of trustees asked the town council for an additional $75,000 to cover operating costs through June. They also requested control be returned to the board of trustees.
The town took over the library's finances last year, after an investigation revealed a former library book-keeper embezzled about $140,000, over a 6-year period. Town leaders are expected to take up the issue at a meeting in February, but a special meeting could take place before then.
