Vermont woman faces animal cruelty charges after 80 dead animals found inside home
SOUTH HERO, VT (WGME) -- A Vermont woman is facing animal cruelty charges after police say they found 80 dead animals in her home.
Officials responded to the home in the town of South Hero last Thursday after the landlord reported the windows were covered in flies and there were dead animals in the residence.
They say nearly 100-cages were found in extremely unsanitary conditions.
They also discovered power disconnected and no windows open so they had to wear masks and jumpsuits.
Of the 88 animals, only eight were alive, including rabbits, lizards, a hedgehog and chinchilla.
Authorities charged the woman renting the trailer, 30-year-old Ashleigh Tilson.
