Young Mainers learn driving skills for life
BRUNSWICK (WGME) - Young drivers are getting hands on experience behind the wheel.
The Ford Motor Company is holding its Driving Skills for Life program at the Brunswick Executive Airport this weekend.
Participants get a chance to drive a Ford Mustang while getting a tune up on specific skills. Those include, reaction time, speed and space management, and how to handle a spin out. Teens are also learning about the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.
"We actually have an impairment suit that we put teens in that simulates impairment for drugs and alcohol," said Program Manager Nolan Katerberg. "We work the police officers to show them what it's like to be impaired."
The sessions are free, and taught by race car drivers.
There are two more sessions Sunday. You can sign up by clicking on this link
