West Virginia man to be extradited in Pennsylvania slaying of Maine man

John Wayne Strawser Jr. of West Virginia will soon be extradited to Pennsylvania to face charges in the highway sentencing death of Timothy Davison of Poland.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A West Virginia man sentenced to life in prison in a West Virginia slaying now faces charges in a killing of a Maine man on a Pennsylvania interstate that state police say appeared to be a case of mistaken identity.

Thirty-nine-year-old John Wayne Strawser Jr., of Terra Alta, West Virginia, is accused of having chased down and killed 28-year-old Timothy Davison, an apparent stranger from Poland, Maine, along Interstate 81 more than two years ago.

Franklin County prosecutor Matt Fogal says Pennsylvania authorities have begun extradition proceedings to bring Strawser back to the state for trial. Fogal says he hopes the process will take no longer than a month.

Strawser was sentenced to life in prison last week in the April 2015 shooting death of Amy Lou Buckingham in Preston, West Virginia.
