Friends and family lit candles in her honor as they walked from Food City, which was her former work place, to her home a few blocks away.

Those walking say she was friends with everybody.

Some say her death is an unfortunate loss to the community and want others to know if they're in an abusive relationship there's always someone willing to help.

"You may not know that there is a domestic violence issue, so with us, we didn't know. We never in a million years thought this would happen to Wendy and she was taken from us too soon,” Jennifer St. Pierre, friend and co-worker, said. "Anybody needed anything she was the first person to help them out, listen, talk. She did not judge. She was your go-to-person."

The community is raising money to help with funeral cost.
