LIVERMORE FALLS (WGME) -- The State Fire Marshal's Office says one person has died in a fire in Livermore Falls.

Firefighters were called to the scene after 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Main Street home was engulfed in flames.

Two children escaped by jumping out of a second-story window. One of the children was taken to the hospital.

The Livermore Fall Police Department says one of their sergeants was driving by and saw the fire and two boys hanging from the window.

Police say the sergeant was able to coax the children into jumping. He caught both kids, but one was injured while jumping. Police say he is expected to be okay.

The sergeant sustained minor injuries from catching the children.

Investigators are still working on a cause for the fire.
