SCARBOROUGH (WGME) – A month after the Scarborough High School principal resigned without reason, teachers submitted a vote of no confidence on the district's superintendent.

A special meeting was called to discuss school times in the Scarborough School District, but it didn't stay on topic.

From the first words spoken at Scarborough School District's special meeting, there was contention in the cafeteria.

Hours before, Scarborough High School teachers voted 83 to one in favor of a “No Confidence” stance on Superintendent Julie Kukenburger.

Kukenburger did not comment on the vote, and stuck to Monday night's topic of start times in Scarborough schools.

"Understanding that the decision is that of the school board, we feel that a pause or compromise for the 2018-19 school year are both options to be considered," Kukenburger said.

During comment period dedicated to start times, parents rallied for former Principal David Creech, who suddenly resigned in February. The “Road to Renewal” political action committee is calling for the superintendent's resignation, and started petitions to recall three members of the board.

School Board Member Jacqueleyn Perry left mid-meeting, saying she had enough of comments on the former principal.

"He resigned, it was accepted,” Perry said. “That's the end of it as far as the board is concerned. I'm not going to listen to people disrespect this board of education."

It was a move that led to boos from the crowd, and one person to hurl an insult at her during our interview.

Principal Creech says he was forced to resign by the superintendent, and when he changed his mind, the district did not let him return to his position.

Recall petitions were being signed outside of the meeting.
