Sex assault suspect wanted in Maine killed in officer-involved shooting in NH
NEWTON, NH (WGME) -- A Maine man wanted for sexual assault was killed after a police chase that started in Massachusetts and ended with shots fired in New Hampshire.
Police say the officer-involved shooting happened late Thursday night.
Massachusetts State Police say officers in Malden spotted a vehicle matching that of 40-year-old Michael Brown of Presque Isle around 11 p.m.
A then chase ensued.
State police say the pursuit took them through several towns and ended an hour later in Newton, New Hampshire where they say Brown hit a tree and died during a confrontation with police in which shots were fired.
The New Hampshire Attorney General says an autopsy is schedule for Friday to determine exactly how Brown died.
Brown was wanted in connection with sexual assault, firearms, and stolen motor vehicle charges.
