Skeletal remains found in Byron
BYRON (WGME) – Maine State Police say skeletal remains were recovered Wednesday from a wooded area in Byron and are now at the State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and examination.
The discovery was made by a hunter Tuesday off the Weld Road, about a mile into the woods. The hunter reported the finding to the Oxford Sheriff’s Office.
A number of searches have taken place since last December looking for 46-year-old Derek Adams, who went missing on December 28.
Adams lived nearby and his family has been notified of the discovery.
The Medical Examiner’s Office are likely to utilize the State Police’s DNA lab to assist them in the identification process.
