Scarborough man charged in hit-and-run killing of Windham bicyclist
PORTLAND (WGME) -- A man police say hit a bicyclist with his vehicle and then drove off has been charged with manslaughter.
Police say 33-year-old Devin Brown, of Scarborough, is facing multiple charges.
In November 2016, 26-year-old Brandon Dumond of Windham was on his bicycle outside of his home when a car ran him over, killing him. The driver then took off.
Police announced Tuesday that Brown was charged with manslaughter, aggravated criminal OUI, aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury or death.
Police say after Brown ran over Dumond he crashed his car less than a mile away.
Originally, Brown was only arrested for OUI but through further investigation those charges have changed and Brown will most likely be looking at a much larger sentence.
A few months ago CBS 13 spoke with friends of Dumond who also witnessed the hit-and-run. They say Brown didn't hit the brakes once after running their friend over.
Brown is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
