TURNER (WGME) – A reported overdose led to a large police response at a Turner campground.

Officials say a man staying at the Martin Stream Campground overdosed Tuesday morning, but when EMTs arrived to help, the man displayed what looked like a rifle with a scope on it.

That's when first responders called police.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office and State Police set up a perimeter.

They say the man eventually came out of the woods without the weapon, which turned out to be a pellet gun, and was taken into custody.

Investigators say the man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

At this point he has not been charged.
