Portland Jetport begins flights to Nova Scotia
PORTLAND (WGME) -- The Portland International Jetport will finally live up to its name. The first flight to Halifax, Nova Scotia takes off Thursday afternoon.
The flight service will be offered through Elite Airways, and will cost about $40 more than the average cat boat ride to Nova Scotia, but the trip lasts four hours less.
The flight also takes you to Halifax, whereas the boat will take you to Yarmouth.
The flight will be scheduled for about twice a week, and it will also have connections to Sarasota, Florida.
Thursday wasn't supposed to be the launch date of the flight. It was actually supposed to happen in the end of June, but an Elite spokesperson says a computer breakdown with the reservation system forced them to move the first flight by two weeks.
The first flight is supposed to take off around 1 p.m.
