Portland church offers service against gun violence
PORTLAND (WGME) – Wednesday night, a Portland church prayed for Parkland, and for change.
A service against gun violence discussed gun control and lives lost.
A night of grieving gave way to gun control debate.
It was a service of lament against gun violence at Saint Luke's in Portland.
Stephen Lane is a member of Bishops Against Gun Violence. He's calling for change, but says he's keeping politics out of the pews.
"We recognize that there are political ramifications, but it's not a political stance,” Lane said. “We believe that this is a gospel stance."
Finding hope in the familiar words of their faith, but struggling to find answers for the familiar headline of young lives lost.
They searched for strength for the mountains they wish to move.
