PORTLAND (WGME) – Portland Police are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery at a Key Bank location Friday.

Police say the suspect held up a handgun threatening employees and customers at the Key Bank at Northgate Shopping Center.

Police say it happened just after two Friday afternoon. Few details on the arrest were available Saturday morning but more information is expected.

The suspect is described as a white male, armed with a black semi automatic handgun.

He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and a wig with long hair.

He is also described as being thin, with a deep voice.

Police say the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money and ran toward the rear of the Northgate Shopping Center.

He was last seen on Brook Road in Portland.

Police say that led them to an area on Ocean Avenue and Presumpscot Street.

The roads in that area were closed off Friday night while police investigated.

They did not find the suspect.

Portland Police and the FBI are investigating.
