Police investigate alleged stabbing in Standish
STANDISH (WGME) -- The Cumberland County Sheriff's Department is investigating an alleged stabbing in Standish and they say the two alleged suspects are still on the loose.
Police say they got a call around noon about a man lying in the middle of a residential road with stab wounds. They say when they arrived they found a 25-year-old Standish man who had sustained superficial cuts during an alleged assault.
This happened off of 7 Colby Drive. The unnamed victim told police that he was walking along an ATV trail at the end of Colby Drive when two unknown subjects on four-wheelers attacked him. Police say the victim was treated for his cuts on scene and was released.
Police say the two suspects are still out there, but say that the community is safe.
"Based on the current investigation we do not feel there is an imminent threat to the public or anyone in that area. We have done a neighborhood canvas, and no one who was around saw anything at that time," Captain Don Goulet of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said.
Neighbors who didn't want to go on camera tell CBS 13 that they didn't hear any ATV's come or go, and that they walked outside to find a man bleeding in the street.
Police say the victim described both suspects are white men in their 30's or 40's. One suspect drove a brown four-wheeler with a brown bandanna on his face, and had a dragon tattoo on his left forearm. The other suspect allegedly drove a green four-wheeler, and was wearing dark clothes and work boots.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department.
