OXFORD (WGME) -- The Oxford County Sheriff's Office says a 26-year-old man was killed in car crash in Oxford late Thursday night.

Deputies identified the man as Cedric Palmer Jr., of Otisfield.

A second man, 26-year-old Eric Knapik, of Oxford, was airlifted to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious injuries.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on Route 121.

Deputies say Palmer was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control, causing the Honda Accord to go off the road and hit a utility pole.

Knapik had to be extricated from the car. Palmer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
