WINDHAM, Maine (WGME) - Windham police have charged the owner of a dog after they left their pooch in a hot car Wednesday.

Police say the owner was summonsed with cruelty to animals after leaving the dog in a hot car with no water.

Police say the temperature inside the vehicle was 94 degrees.

With temperatures rising across the state, police are reminding Mainers not to leave their dogs (or children) in their hot cars during the warm months.
