Meteorologists: Irma could bring rain to Maine next week
GRAY (WGME) -- The National Weather Service is looking to gather more information as Irma moves toward the U.S. mainland.
The National Weather Service in Gray says all of its offices on the East Coast are launching four weather balloons each day instead of their normal two.
Meteorologists say this helps them more accurately forecast large weather events like Hurricane Irma.
They say if Irma impacts Maine, it will likely be more than a week away and limited to rain.
