March blizzard leaves cars buried in Portland
PORTLAND (WGME) -- The City of Portland had their 10th parking ban of the season Tuesday night.
It's time to dig out or even try and find your car in Portland Wednesday after Tuesday's blizzard dumped just over 16 inches of snow on the city, leaving some cars buried in snow.
Steven Leiser just moved to Maine from Florida and says he thought he'd be getting to Portland just in time for spring, but Mother Nature had other plans.
He and other people who park on the street had to park in one of the dozen designated lots Tuesday night and dig out their car Wednesday.
“From coming down the hill you just see a big pile of snow, if you know where you parked then it’s not so bad,” Logan Shifflett, Portland resident, said.
Some drivers lucked out Wednesday with strong winds blowing the snow off their cars. Others weren't as fortunate.
This storm is just another reminder to keep a shovel handy.
It's time for crews to clean up too. The City of Portland says plows will be out removing snow from streets around the city.
