Man accused of setting fire at Oxford apartment complex
OXFORD (WGME) -- The State Fire Marshals have charged an Oxford man with setting a fire at the housing complex that he lives in.
Investigators say 29-year-old Timothy C. Williams Jr. was arrested Thursday and charged with arson.
Williams was taken to the Oxford County Jail.
Investigators say he set fire to a newspaper in a hallway in the building early Tuesday morning.
The fire was at the doorway of an elderly resident who heard the fire alarm, but could not get out of her apartment because of the fire.
The woman doused the fire was water enabling her to escape the building.
No one was injured.
Williams lived across the hall from where the fire was set.
Investigators say he was mad at another tenant in the building.
This is the second serious fire at the Oxford Meadow Apartment complex in a year.
Last May, an elderly resident died after a fire started in a common area from an electrical issue.
That fire was ruled accidental.
