KENNEBUNKPORT (WGME) -- While President George H. W. Bush doesn’t spend his winters at Walker's Point, he does call Kennebunkport his second home.

As he recovers in the hospital, many in the area are sending well-wishes that he returns this summer.

George H.W. Bush has been a staple in this seaside community.

He's been a member at Cape Arundel since the 1940s.

The clubhouse now bears his name, and his club championship award from 1947 still hangs polished.

For as long as they can remember, the staff at Mabel’s Lobster Claw says the Bushes have been coming in twice a season.

The president's spokesperson says they're hopeful he'll be released from the hospital in the next few days, which many hope means he'll return to Maine this summer.
