Maine restaurants donate profits to help Puerto Rico
PORTLAND (WGME) -- It's been 55 days since hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
According to officials, nearly 49 percent of the island has power, and 90 percent of residents have water, but it still has to be boiled.
The road to recovery is proving to be a long one.
Now, Mainers are making a difference for those victims.
Close to 50 Maine restaurants, coffee shops and other businesses are donating a portion of Tuesday's sales to hurricane relief aid in Puerto Rico.
The event has special meaning for restaurant workers with family in Puerto Rico.
