Maine has shortage of plow truck drivers
PORTLAND (WGME) -- There aren't enough plow truck drivers.
In fact, some businesses say they've been trying to hire truck drivers for as long as a year.
Some of those businesses and the Maine Department of Transportation took part in a job fair Friday in Portland.
They are all hoping to find that perfect employee, which they say has become difficult.
The DOT recently started paying private contractors to drive plow trucks and work on road crews in an effort to overcome a chronic shortage of full-time transportation workers.
