Maine GOP calls for House Democrat resignation after Facebook rant
Warning: This post contains profanity.
PORTLAND (WGME) -- The Maine Republican Party is calling for a House Democrat to resign after a Facebook rant targeting President Donald Trump.
Representative Scott Hamann now says he regrets the vulgar Facebook rant in which he appeared to threaten President Trump.
Screen shots of the posts were provided to CBS 13 by conservative radio host Keith Hanson.
The Maine Republican Party calls Hamann's comments unhinged and dangerous.
House Democrats are trying to distance themselves from this. A spokesperson says they wouldn't be commenting and that House Speaker Sara Gideon was unavailable Wednesday.
Hamann said in a statement that he regrets the decision to post something aggressively sarcastic and inappropriate in a Facebook exchange with a childhood friend.
Rep. Hamann didn't respond to a message CBS 13 left for him Wednesday on his cell phone.
