Maine DOT looks to change Westbrook 'triangle'
WESTBROOK (WGME) – It's known for afternoon back-ups and a bizarre traffic pattern.
Now, major changes could be coming to the so-called "triangle," in Westbrook.
The Maine DOT is thinking about adding four traffic lights at the intersection.
Officials believe the changes could cut down on accidents and alleviate congestion.
Wednesday night they're explaining the plan to the public.
The triangle under the microscope is where Main Street, Cumberland Street, Harnois Avenue, and Warren Avenue all meet.
The Maine DOT is looking to install traffic lights that would all be at the entry ways of the triangle.
The plan also includes other upgrades including the addition of cross walks and more travel lanes.
No word yet on how much this project could cost.
