Life Hacks Part 2: Adulting School in Portland offers tips to make life a little easier
PORTLAND (WGME) -- Being an adult can be tough but the Adulting School in Portland has more tips to make life a little easier.
They include everything from how to get the crumbs out of your keyboard to keeping your iced coffee strong.
- How to multi-task while cooking so that you can focus on perfecting the recipe.
Take a hanger that has clips on each side. Take a cook book, open it to the page with the recipe that will be used for cooking. Clip the pages into the hanger. Hang the hanger up in the kitchen so the chef isn't constantly looking down at the recipe of flipping pages.
- How to make sure iced coffee doesn't get watered down.
Make a pot of hot coffee and pour it into ice trays. Let it freeze overnight.
Once it's frozen you'll have coffee ice cubes. Use them in iced coffee instead of ice cubes so it doesn't get watered down.
- How to get rid of keyboard crumbs.
Take a sticky note. Turn the sticky note so the sticky part is facing down. Run it through a keyboard and unwanted crumbs and dust will stick to it.
- How get the most out of a candle
The more a candle is used the further down the wick is making it harder to light with a lighter. Instead, get a piece of spaghetti and a candle that's almost out of wax. Light the end of the spaghetti and touch it to the hard-to-reach wick.
- How to remember what items need to be purchased.
Forgot a shopping list? No problem.
Before leaving the house take a picture of the items that need to be purchased. That way, the pictures will show the brand and size of what needs to be bought, and chances are a cell phone isn't left behind while shopping.
The Adulting School in Portland will soon launch an online school. They're hoping to create a place for people to share videos of some life hacks that will make life easier.
