Jetport staff work hard to clear runways
PORTLAND (WGME) – The recent storm forced airlines to cancel nearly 9,000 flights across the country, leaving some travelers stranded.
At the jetport, plows were on the runway early Wednesday morning, clearing the big drifts of snow.
Most people CBS 13 talked with Wednesday at the Portland Jetport say they were trying to get out of Maine Tuesday before the storm hit, only to find they'd be snowed in with the rest of us.
One man's flight was rescheduled twice. He, like many others was heading south to escape the cold.
They had to reschedule, now flying into Tampa Wednesday night, losing two days of their trip.
Officials at the jetport say Tuesday, only 15 percent of their normal flight operations took place. Wednesday, it’s up to 75 percent and they say it’s thanks to the employees working around the clock to keep runways clear.
